Bi Wei (pronounced be way) Liang-Tronolone was born in Guangzhou, China. Her Impressionist scenes and lush garden paintings create a alluring and peaceful vision of nature. Raised in a family of artists, her father, Yon Tai Liang a well known wood cut artist and her mother a music editor. Her formal art education began at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art; studying under a number of Chinese masters. In 1982, Bi Wei came to the United States to continue her studies in Boston; at the Massachusetts College of Art. In 1985 she graduated with the Alumni Award for leadership in the field of visual arts.
Since then Bi Wei has participated in many group and solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Her paintings have also been collected by major corporations, such as Marriott Hotel and St. Regis Hotel as well as the Taccoma Museum of Art. Bi Wei's extensive travels influence her painting; traveling throughout Europe, China, Tibet and America. Her focus, is on developing a technique of using a rainbow of oil colors to capture light and temperature in the painting; while also, expressing her passion for different cultures, history and nature. She currently resides in Southern California; painting professionally, and working as an color designer for Animation Studios.
